Hornsea Heirloom x Tea

A Yorkshire Tea pot for A yorkshire Cuppa.

Since its launch in 1967 at the Ceylon Tea Center in London, Heirloom has been closely associated with the cuppa.

Heirloom was Hornsea’s first complete range of tableware, which naturally for Northerner’s orbited around the drinking and serving of tea.

The Heirloom tea pot’s distinctive modern shape was enhanced by a hand drawn link pattern utilizing calligraphic pens that Hornsea in house designer John Clappison had been experimenting with. The new range was the perfect vehicle for the new glaze resist decorating technique that Hornsea developed and patented in the mid 1960s. Based in East Yorkshire, far away from the traditional Potteries heartland in Staffordshire, Hornsea was forced to improvise and learn as they went. With no short supply of traditional Yorkshire belligerence , the pottery thrived though hard work, innovation, and an uncanny eye for accessible style. The Heirloom range took the market by storm and was sold extensively in the UK and was shipped all around around the world for two decades.

Heirloom was available in 3 color ways, Lakeland Green, Midnight Blue and Autumn Brown-which is affectionately known around this way as “honey”.

Today Heirloom is highly coveted and sought after by collectors and users  in a robust vintage and recycling market.

In 2024  we will  launch a new range of Hornsea Heirloom Tea Pots, Mugs and Accessories featuring legacy Hornsea colors and shapes.

And of course there will also be a Hornsea Heirloom Ceylon Tea selection to enjoy.

But don’t worry we won’t change too much of the beloved Heirloom tea pot, because if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
